Smart Shield Self Tanner with SPF 15 Review

I've been hoarding this product review for two months now, and it's time to finally post it! I recently received this product through Business2Blogger's campaign with this company, and I was eager to give it a go on my olive skin. You see, I don't *need* a self tanner all the time--or even ever. I tan fairly easily on my own. However, Florida had a pretty long winter this year... meaning my skin became pasty and stayed that way for longer than usual. I think what first caught my interest was that this self tanner included SPF 15. If you remember, I usually always carry some type of sunscreen since the Florida sun can be brutal and provides unforgiving tan lines when driving, walking, sitting... you know, the usual.

Here's some fancy mumbo jumbo talk: This self tanner protects your skin from UV rays and the oil-free formula absorbs and dries quickly (Check). This oil-free formula contains Vitamins A, C and E and Aloe Vera to soothe and smooth your skin (Check. My skin did feel softer!). In the press release, the General Manager, Tyler Thomas, stated that "Our Self Tanner is unique in that we use DHA instead of dyes or stains to cause the body to produce melanin and create a natural, safe tan." Sounds good enough to me.

So, basically, this product is non-oily, light on the skin and eco-friendly. After one use, I can say that I agree with this statement. It's something that might take a few uses before you develop any real color, but I felt a half-shade darker.
