Top 2 Tuesdays: A lil' something about *me*

Top 2 Random Facts About Yourself

1. I honestly feel depressed if I don't get to see the sun or hit the beach every few days. My mood is really effected by the lack of sunlight in my life. Considering this has been the *longest* winter ever (or so it feels like), you can imagine that I've had the Winter Grumpies for just a few too many days.
The sunrise over Tampa Bay this morning.

2. I worked in radio for three years and got to meet a lot of *interesting* people. Someone let me on the air from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday mornings and it was a lot of fun (even though I sucked). I loved doing the promotional events, but I (eventually) realized I needed to try to find full time employment and focus on getting my Master's. Working in radio is *too much* fun and led me to many, many nights out until 5 a.m. or working overnight traffic reporting shifts... ick! My body was worn down.

Today's Contest:
Check out Tobin Inc. to try to win a Dooney & Burke wristlet! If you enter, be sure to say Krystal's Kitsch referred you! =)

Sunny Days and Rainy Nights

The weekend started off without a hitch. I attended a co-worker's birthday bash at Bahama Breeze (it's a chain but they are surprisingly good... just check the nutritional information before you go! Some of their entrees are like heart-stoppers). I opted for the Jamaican grilled chicken with a side salad. In exchange for eating healthy, I drank my daily calorie intake. Anyway, I hope my trainer doesn't read this! It was nice to be out with new people.

Saturday I will admit that I was a waste of space. I almost went to the beach. I almost did laundry. I almost caught up on homework. I did however watch Spice World, fix the cable, do the dishes, go grocery shopping and read. I napped too. Glorious.

I did try to take the puppy out for a walk, but he wanted *none* of it.
Yes, puppy wants to nap and not move.

Either way, Sunday was completely rained out so I watched the boy hang drywall. My day was really quite fascinating.

Wow, I'm really quite boring. Maybe I'll have some scandalous stories for you this week! ;)

Movie Quote Mondays: The Worst Movie Ever?

Movie Quote Mondays: Click the button to link up!

No, it's really not the *worst movie* ever, but you might think so.

Over the weekend, Netflix sent us a disc for our Wii so we can instantly stream movies to our TV (instead of watching them on the computer). It's really convenient and surprisingly much faster than using the computer. Anyway, the very first movie that I streamed was Spice World. I was cleaning and it was on my instant queue.

Movie: Spice World
Character: Baby Spice is the first one; the boss man is the second one
Quote(s):

Baby: In my bed, I've got two teddies, I've got a rabbit, I've got two dollies, and one Susan, she's got a bad eye, and then I've got a green giraffe which I won at a fair, he was the only one left, I felt *really* sorry for him, then there's Buzz, Woody, the alien, and then I've got a fluffy pink hot water bottle. So, there's just not enough room for you, mate!

When the rabbit of chaos is pursued by the ferret of disorder through the fields of anarchy, it is time to hang your pants on the hook of darkness. Whether they're clean or not.
Why: Is there ever a reason to *not* watch a Spice Girls movie? I think not. Baby Spice is the *cutest* and that other quote just makes me laugh. I'm lame. You don't have to tell me.

Getting to Know You Sunday

1 - Why did you start blogging? I've been blogging inconsistently since I was 13. I think I initially started to fawn over *Nsync and it then evolved into teenage angst entries, silly high school antics, concert reviews in college... and now this. What is this, exactly? I'm not so sure myself.
2 - Who's the one blog friend that you would want to meet most in "real life"? This is easy. Boob Nazi, hands down. I think that she would be super energetic in real life and I would like to see some of this accidental winking.
3 - Why are you always concerned with losing that "extra 10 pounds" when chances are your husband/boyfriend/friends tell you that you look just fine the way you are? It's not a number issue for me. I want to be toned and avoid turkey arms. They run in my family.
4 - What's the one thing you wish guys could understand about you? I have a great guy who at least pretends to understand me. He still doesn't get how I can be so emotional some days.
5 - Tattoos. How many do you have and how many are visible when you wear your "everyday" clothes? I have a grand total of one tattoo and you could never see it. Sometimes it peeks out from under a bikini -- but not always. It's a dove and a heart on my left lower hip area... peace and love?? I'm not exactly a crazy hippie or anything, but it was a spontaneous decision and I love doves. And birds. I know birds can be dirty, but I love birds... well images of birds. The only bird I've ever owned committed suicide when I was 7. He just jumped clear off his perch.
6 - What was the best year of your life and why? This is really hard to answer! 18: Graduating, moving out on my own at college. 21: I could party any time I wanted, I had zero responsibilities, and I started working in radio. 23: I met my lovely fellow and I got a real job. I have a feeling *this year* (25) will be the best.
7 - Name three things you would do if you were a man for one day. Good question. The real answer is not exactly blog friendly... so how about pick a fight at a bar, pee without having to wait in a mile long line and feel respected at a job.
8 - What's your alcoholic drink of choice that usually raises a few eyebrows? I am always trying to be calorie conscious when I pick something alcoholic to drink. I have been told that getting vodka/water and bringing your own Crystal Lite packets to mix in it is a pretty healthy way of cutting calories at the bar... however, some people think I'm weird or am being "cheap." Um.... I'm not being cheap... I'm still BUYING liquor. I just would prefer to use my own mixer and this doesn't effect price. Hmph. I also will only drink vodka/ sugar free Red Bull and will refuse the real stuff.

Saturdays are for Sunning...

The weather is gorgeous. If I wasn't so lazy, I would be on the beach and enjoying the sun. However, I had to take the puppy to get his final puppy shots (He's a big boy now!) and I decided to clean. And fix the cable. And nap. I think I'll finally go outside to walk the mutts on the water in a few.

I sometimes think I'm following people on Blogger and then I say "Why hasn't this person updated in ... forever?!" and I realize I wasn't even following them. If you're following me and I've promised that I would return the follow and I haven't, let me know! :) I really want to read your blog... well, probably. ;)

My evening plans include eating, 27 Dresses on DVD, reading magazines (it feels like a chore sometimes since I get *so* many) and napping again.

I love the weekend.

It's Friday, I'm in Love...

The It's Friday, I'm In Love Series

This is my first time doing this one, but I am needing some motivation for this upcoming weekend. And because I love The Cure. That is all.

1. The Weather. It's nice. It's breezy and has been sunny all day. Because of this glorious Florida weather (FINALLY!), I am going to have dinner on the water of this nice restaurant and listen to a reggae cover band while drinking low calorie adult beverages (if they exist). I'm pleased.

2. The new Vera Bradley. They announced their summer line this week and while I'm not super impressed (it's getting a little predictable), I did enjoy the Make Me Blush pattern. It's adorable! I probably like it so much because it combines my favorite colors in a fun way.
I will be *resisting* any Vera purchases right now. I bought two bags at the beginning of the year, and I have to really WEAR them.
Check out the rest of the summer line here.

3. Meetup.com. My mom of all people started using this site to network and meet new people. I am not one for internet stalking (though I do have a blog so I'm not sure what that means), but I was intrigued by all the fun events they organize. I was particularly interested in all the beer tastings and outdoor acitvities. While I have an *amazing* group of friends, we have *crazy* schedules that leaves little time for weekend adventures. I try to have a girls outing once a month and keep in touch with all my friends on a regular basis, but our schedules sometimes just don't click. It would be nice to have someone plan my weekends with some new things to do. I haven't attended any of these so-called events, but I might. We will see.

4. My new major. Ah, yes. I think I can finally talk about this now. I have been toying with the idea of getting another Master's for some time now. Tuition is free since I work at a university, and my previous Master's degree was flat-out worthless. There, I said it. Well, I am a thesis away from graduating with a Master's in Mass Communications... but I just don't want to do it. I don't know why. Is it my topic? Is it my lack of motivation? I mean, it could be anything. I just really don't feel like completing a research project on something that I'm not passionate about anymore. I have officially switched to a Master's of Education in Instructional Technology. I don't know if it will lead to a lifetime of lucrative job opportunities, but I am able to take classes online (Yay!) and I only need 7 more to finish (I took some as electives previously). I get to learn more about Web Design, play around with Photoshop and just learn more about using computers in an educational setting. It seems more applicable since I do work in a *university.* Who knows. I just want to *finish.* This option seemed more tolerable and I feel a little more motivated about school. Just a little. Here's to a spring 2011 graduate (I was supposed to finish in 2009... eek!).

5. My new sunglasses. Remember when I wrote a pathetic blog entry practically *begging* for a local eyeglasses boutique to give me Coach glasses? Well, I won and here they are.
They're gorgeous. You can't really tell here, but I promise you they are amazing.

Oh, and the lovely boyfriend made me a button for my blog. How sweet. It's on my left sidebar, if you know, anyone cares.

Marc Jacobs Wishli

Oh, this was too much fun this morning. Browsing gorgeous leather handbags definitely made me feel motivated to make more money! Anyway, if I could have any handbag I would definitely pass on the Louis Vuitton and go for some Marc Jacobs. I have been always a fan of this classic bag:

...I'd throw this little wallet in there...
MARC BY MARC JACOBS 'Totally Turnlock' Flap Clutch Wallet ($178)
...and use this for coins, keys, etc...
MARC BY MARC JACOBS 'Petal to the Metal' Key Pouch ($88)

A girl can dream.

Top 2 Things I Can't Live Without

Top 2 Things I Can't Live Without:
1. My iPhone. I never thought I would be one of "those people." As long as cell phones existed, I always had one that barely worked and was the size of a brick. I could barely check my email on my last phone. I had no idea what an amazing world it was out there with a smartphone. I also can spend my days in bed checking email and playing Scrabble. Oh, what a life.

2. My Vera Bradley tote. It's filled with everything I need and makes me feel a little bright & cheery at work.

Movie Quote Mondays: Isla Fisher Obessesion

Presents:
Movie Quote Mondays

Movie: Gosh, I can't get *away* from thoughts of her. I used The Wedding Crashers last week with the lovely Isla, mentioned her lovely taste in fashion on Tuesday... and wouldn't you know? Her and Borat *finally* tied the knot this weekend! My friend shared the news with me and mentioned how Isla Fisher's cutest role was in Definitely, Maybe. I had to think about this movie since it has been forever since I've seen it, but it did have some adorable quotes.

Characters: Will (Ryan Reynolds) & April (Isla Fisher)
Quote:
Will Hayes: Will you... um... marry me?
April: No. What do you mean, 'Will you, um, marry me?' I haven't seen you in weeks! You don't look happy or excited about the prospect of our marriage! You're asking me to give up my - my freedom, my joie de vivre for an institution that fails as often as it succeeds? And why should I marry you anyway? I mean, why do you wanna marry me? Besides some bourgeois desire to fulfill an ideal that society embeds in us from an early age to promote a consumer capitalist agenda?
Will Hayes: Oh! Oh, my God.
April: You should've got on your knee.
Will Hayes: Just shut up! Here - I wanna marry you because you're the first person I wanna look at when I wake up in the morning, and the only one I wanna kiss goodnight. Because the first time that I saw these hands, I couldn't imagine not being able to hold them. But mainly, when you love someone as much as I love you, getting married is the only thing left to do. So, will you, um, marry me?
April: Definitely. Maybe.

Why: Because she is *finally* married in real life. They had a very long engagement (like 7 years!) & I wish them nothing but happiness. Dating Sacha Baron Cohen sounds challenging...I can't imagine marrying him! ;D

Friend Makin' Mondays: Springtime

1. Favorite things about Spring: Flowers, the BEACH, rum runners, flip flops, longer days (thank you daylight savings time), taking the dogs for long walks, sunsets, pretty nail polish colors that are totally acceptable (hello lime green!), sundresses, tank tops... I could go on and on. Unfortunately the spring weather hasn't really stayed in Florida yet... we will have a chilly morning, a high of barely 70, and a freezing night. Sigh.

2. What I'm doing for Spring Break: Well, I'm a "big girl" now... do I get a spring break? I guess I could say that I went to a spring training game, had a beach day last week and will be doing some major spring cleaning soon.

3. Favorite Spring flower:

Tulips. Or any flower really. I like colors.

4. Do you have a garden? I had a garden. Somewhere between winter and having dogs running amok in the backyard -- everything died.

5. If so, what do you grow. I tried growing peppers and tomatoes. I managed to get 3 peppers and zero tomatoes.

6. Do you do Spring cleaning? Well, I try. I have several projects that I need to get done this season, and I hope that I have the motivation to do so!

7. What is your weather *really* like right now? {Just b/c it's "officially" spring, doesn't mean that it feels like it for some of you} The weather is cold. Really, really unusually cold for a Florida spring. Saturday it reached maybe 70 and had a chilly breeze (but I was very excited to go to the beach anyway!). I'm hoping it gets warm and stays that way, but the ten day forecast has cold mornings and afternoons in the late 60s and early 70s. Ick.

8. Snapped any weather related photos lately? Share one with us! I posted this yesterday.
Taken Saturday evening at sunset on the beach.

9. What's your favorite thing to do on a sunny afternoon? Beach. I don't even have to be on the sand exactly. I like to walk from restaurant to bar to sand and back again.

10. Favorite TV show right now? Modern Family.

Longest.week.ever.

This week felt like it was an endless wonderful mess. I'm exhausted. My body hates me. I need water, sleep and food. Oy. What a week...

St. Patrick's Day was spent in this historic downtown area in the next town over. It was cold and it started to pour. We waited an hour to eat corned beef & cabbage at this nice restaurant. My friend brought his own food coloring so we could have green drinks. It was a pretty enjoyable evening, but like I said, exhausting.

It's amazing what fun a little food coloring is. Note the green mustache.
Waking up Thursday was pretty tough, but I was excited because I was going to be attending a Sip & Dip party at The Melting Pot. I somehow found out about this opportunity online and signed up to be a hostess. I brought some friends and we enjoyed one free fondue (we could pick between cheese or chocolate), a free drink and half price appetizers/drinks for the night. I had never been to The Melting Pot before and I was impressed. The regular menu prices looked a little pricey (some of the all-inclusive meals were $60ish!), but for bar food after work it was perfect.

These garlic dijon shrimp were amazing and only $5!

They sat at us near the bar and we decided on this fiesta cheese fondue. They gave us bread, veggies and apples to dip in it. I had never thought of dipping bread in melted cheese, but hey, it was free. And delicious. My trainer will be quite angry at me for eating what could be the worst dinner on the planet health-wise. Every calorie was *so* worth it though. For my free drink I followed with my friends ordered--a dirty martini. I had never had one (and now I know why!) before, and this would be a good chance to experiment. It. was. disgusting. Okay, it wasn't *that* bad, but I learned that I definitely do not like olives. And there were several blue cheese stuffed olives swimming in the drink. Overall it was a great chance to try out a new restaurant and I definitely recommend their happy hour specials.

Friday was a very long day. I think the week had just finally worn me down. It was the boy & I's two year anniversary so we headed to Grillsmith for some meat and drinks. I had won $50 to Grillsmith for photoshopping a pic of me and my guy and adding their logo sometime around Valentine's Day. Anyway, this was one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. Filet Mignon with blue cheese and covered in a wine sauce. Ahhh I could die. It made us very sleepy so we had an early night.

Meat.

Saturday was the first gorgeous and semi-warm day of the year. It was a definite beach day. I hung out at a tiki bar for a solid nine hours, and I have the sunburn to prove it. Sometimes you just need days like that to recharge. I felt great, but my dehydration is setting in...
There's nothing like a good day at a tiki bar...
...pure paradise.
(And, yes, that is a pirate ship. It leaves from the local marina and is, in essence, a booze cruise)

Today I've managed to do absolutely nothing and I'm loving it.

I wonder what this week will bring. Hopefully warmer weather and maybe some good news.

What did you get into this week?

P.S. Cute picture of the day --
Puppies love mud.

Getting to Know You Sundays

1. What year did you graduate high school? 2003
2. What part of your body do you neglect the most? My hair. I don't get it trimmed nearly as often as I should.
3. Beach house or Lake house? *BEACH*
4. Mac or PC? PC -- though Macs are cool -- I just don't have one
5. Did you wear braces? I did. You can't tell though.
6. If you could be one person for a day..living or deceased..who would you be? This might be a cheesy answer, but either Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton. I just want to see what *really* goes on in Washington.
7. How many times have you moved in your life? A ton though I've always stayed in the same areas of Florida. I have lived in Tampa, Orlando for college, Palm Harbor, Oldsmar and now Clearwater.
8. Would you rather cook or clean? A dirty kitchen makes me crazy... so I would have to clean *first* then cook!

Five Question Friday: Lots of Pictures

My Little Life

I apologize in advance. I haven't been a blogger for a while now, and I have all these fun pictures that I feel like I must share because I haven't really done so before. Well, besides on Facebook. Anyway, you have been warned.

1. Have you ever had a celeb sighting? Why, yes, of course. I worked briefly for a radio station and I also have the tendency to attend concerts really early to stalk. Well, maybe not stalk... but lurk. I guess in some respects I'm pretty fortunate to have the opportunity to attend so many great shows. My favorite celebrity story is Miss Britney Spears. My friend and I were about 13 and we didn't know who she was, so we shouted something pretty nasty at her while waiting outside before an *Nsync concert to get her attention (random story, I know). Anyway this story has no point, but recently I was able to get to see her up close and personal (the closest I will probably ever be to the greatness that is Miss Spears).

Anyway, I love her and I don't care if you don't. Other celebrity sightings (or stalkings, whatever) include:
Blue October
Lil Jon (I was extra excited about this, lol)
Ne-Yo was my favorite
Colbie Caillat is realllllly nice!
Dashboard Confessional's Chris Carabba
Gavin Degraw
2. What temperature do you keep your house? I like it toasty. It's probably set at about 72. I don't like to wear warm clothes around the house!

3. Do you notice dust at other peoples homes? Actually, probably not. Unless it's *really* dusty. I notice the dust in my own home more I think.

4. What's the worst job you ever had? Every job I've had has had its moments. I worked at Victoria's Secret for 4 hours and left when it was time to do hand massages. That creeped me out. I worked at a movie theater for *two* years and cleaning icky garbage after movies was pretty gross. Let's see...oh wait! The *worst* job I had was in college and I worked in the cataloging department of the library. So. frickin'. boring. All I did was get new books, input their ISBN number into a system, print out barcodes and labels, and then put the books on the shelf. This job lasted only a summer. I took school loans to supplement my non-existent income after this. Ick!

5. What is your most sentimental possession? I love photographs. I just love printing out digital prints, arranging them in frames and putting them all over the place.

Favorite Fridays: Favorite Band

Favorite Fridays

If you know me, you know that I listen to music that is at least 5 years old at all times. My iPod is pretty much full of 90s music and maybe a few new dance music albums (Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, LMFAO, etc.). Anyways, this question was *super* easy for me to decide on and don't make fun of me for living in 2001.

My favorite band: Sister Hazel.
Never heard of them? Come on, they had that one #1 song "All For You" over a decade ago. I promise that they've still been making music (and actually just released another album). They are Florida boys, so I've been fortunate enough to see them live a bunch of times just because they are *always* on tour and traveling. I have probably seen them maybe three times in the past two years (and a few times before then too!), and luckily they are returning to my town in April. Yay! It's so much to actually *like* a band that is always around.
Last time I saw them --
Epcot's Food & Wine Festival (probably one of the best days of 2009!)

Runner ups: Third Eye Blind, Jimmy Eat World, Goo Goo Dolls, Brand New
Jesse of Brand New. I nearly died for this picture.

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. Today I am wearing a hot pink shirt, jeans and purple flats. And a coat. It's cold this morning.

2. My favorite childhood food was Ramen. Really, I loved to eat Ramen and watch The Price is Right. I was strange.

3. A day that I am too busy to get my fitness on is a day that I am too busy.

4. The last movie I saw was Taking Woodstock (but I fell asleep) and the next movie I want to see is Hot Tub Time Machine. And hopefully I won't fall asleep.

5. My favorite smell is the beach because I love the smell of summer!

6. A weird little quirk I have is that my "room" can be so messy but if the kitchen is a wreck, it really really bothers me!

7. When I take personality quizzes they always say I'm pretty outgoing, social and fun...though I can be really shy at times.

Top 2 Tuesdays: Celebrity Style

I apologize for the massive overload of pictures, but I couldn't help myself. I got really excited about looking at pictures of these two sassy ladies.

This week at Top 2 Tuesday -- Favorite Celebrity Style. I could have gone (and on...) about various actresses... but I settled on these two.

1. Isla Fisher. She's gorgeous. She's with Borat and has a kid named Olive. I just think she's adorable.

Love her look.
Totally casual and looking great without makeup.
But she sure can work a red carpet! :)

Even pregnant she was pretty cute!

2. Drew Barrymore. Okay, she's had her terrible fashion moments... but overall she's just stunning and creative.
Fedora and Chucks. My kind of girl!
It's a new look every time she steps out!
Love love this.
I really liked this look even though I don't think the fashion bloggers were pleased.
