Cinch! Book Review: Drop Pounds & Lose Inches

Losing weight is hard. It's a new year, everyone wants to drop pounds, and it's very frustrating. I've consistently chosen healthy foods (more often than not) and exercised consistently last year. Even still, I maintained my weight... and once the holidays came... well, there it all came back. It's okay, but with a wedding to look forward to -- I need a quick {healthy!} detox and a way to create meals that are tasty and good for you.

Cinch! is written by Cynthia Sass (the coauthor of the Flat Belly Diet) and seems to be a great way to kick off your New Year's diet resolutions. The book claims that you can lose up to 7 pounds in the five days. Where do I sign up!? Something neat about Cynthia that I didn't know until I read the book was how she went to my university (USF) and once worked for the Tampa Bay Rays (hello, my favorite baseball team!).

So, how do you begin on her Cinch plan? Using her handy grocery list, you start your "Five Day Fast Forward" which is where you only eat five foods: spinach; raspberries; almonds; eggs; and yogurt. That might sound like an odd mix, but these foods will give you energy and get your body back on track. Cynthia includes recipes for these five foods (like parfaits or salads) so that you;ll be feeling prepared and ready to kick those toxins out of your body.

Other tactics that Cynthia recommends include using approved seasonings to combat hunger and to make your meals tastier. Approved beverages while on this five day plan include water, tea, coffee (one cup!), seltzer, or use her included recipe for zesty cinnamon basil berry tea.

After your five day detox, you can expand your menu by following her suggestion of having a five-piece meal that includes a produce, a whole grain, a lean protein, etc. The books includes recipes to get you going (such as an open faced pesto egg sandwich or pineapple avocado tacos). Oh, and did I mention you can eat chocolate every day?

If you're interested in what you hear, pick up a copy of Cinch!: Conquer Cravings, Drop Pounds, and Lose Inches. After my bachelorette party, I'm going to try it out. I mean, it sounds tasty, easy and a good way to get started on the right track.

Feel free to visit her website, Facebook, or Twitter for more information.

*I received a copy of this book for being a member of the One2One Network in exchange for this review and a chance to win a prize. My opinions here are honest and no other compensation was received.

Why does every diet plan want you to eat yogurt? I hate yogurt!! lol But other than that, I like when diet plans include a shopping list, because I never know what to buy. Thanks for the write up :o)
