Since we moved, I have been constantly getting told that there is nothing to do in our new area or that it just isn't like home. Well, I mean sure... the proximity of craft beer bars is a little sucky and the selection of "nightlife" near us is non-existent... but there are other things that are seeming to redeem our new home.
Enter ZombieCon. Really? A street party where everyone is encouraged to dress like zombies and, well, drink? Sign me up. I guess this happens in other cities as well (I noticed several tweets/status updates from friends in faraway states mentioning their ZombieCon as well), but it is a *huge* deal in Ft. Myers. Apparently. I mean, I didn't know much about it until five days ago.
One of the highlights of the event was an attempt to break the world record for most zombies gathered in one place at one time. We were each given a wristband and they took our information so we could "count." Apparently they broke the record and are waiting for official Guinness results. At least, that was the rumor. The previous record was like 4,000 something and they estimated there was at least 10,000 zombies there. Can you believe it, 10,000 crazies dressed up like dead people? ;-)
So... yes. I was a zombie.

I wore an 80s style kind of lacy gothicy dress. That's a fake hand feeling me up. Classy.
The husband looked pretty damn convincing. Who knew he could apply makeup so well?

While the night ended in a crazy way (I mean, of course, when does it ever end normally?), we still had a great time and woke up with zombie makeup still on our faces. And hangovers.
Happy Zombies!
Happy Zombies!

We do the Zombie Pub Crawl in the Twin Cities - oddly I heard that we broke the very same record... I bet every city did according to the rumors. I guess we'll have to wait and see!
