Tubular Tuesdays Music Linkup #2 {*80s!!}

Welcome to our link up! I hope you participate -- this week is clearly the coolest decade in music -- the 80s!

November 8th *** 80s

Just to get this out there -- I was born in 1984. So, a lot of these songs I either got into as I was growing up through movies or they are late 80s songs that I remember jamming out to in elementary school. Either way, the 80s is one of my favorite decades... and not just for the music.

So... here's my *80s list! Can't wait to see what you have got! :)

Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic -- The Police {1981}
Clearly a super fun song.

Dancing With Myself -- Billy Idol {1981}
I still listen to this one regularly.

Come on Eileen -- Dexys Midnight Runners {1983}
I always think of Tommy Boy when I hear this -- one of my favorite movies!

Lucky Star -- Madonna {1983}

I Think We're Alone Now -- Tiffany {1987}
*Just for the record, I think I didn't become obsessed with this song until I was like 13 which is clearly like TEN years after this came out. The radio station where I lived had 80s at 8 every night and I always requested this song! Anyway, Love Tiffany. Love this song. Love her acid washed jeans. Love her sweet dance moves. MUST WATCH 1:20! Remember when people would do that?! Green shift guy.

Lost In Your Eyes -- Debbie Gibson {1988}
*Debbie Gibson is still awesome. I don't care what you think. This is actually live, she sounds so young!! Do you remember she would draw smiley faces on her knees in lipstick? I will never forget that!

See -- there is a FACE on her knee.

Close To Me -- The Cure {1985}
Do you know how much of a Cure fan I am? You'd probably never guess, but it's true. I think sometime in college I *really* became obsessed and had all their re-released albums. Anyway, I had to put them on here once. Maybe twice. ;)

Pictures of You -- The Cure

You Got It (The Right Stuff) - New Kids on the Block {1988}
Duh. While I can't believe this song came out when I was FOUR, I genuinely remember loving the New Kids. My dad bought me a poster to hang on my wall when I was in kindergarten, but it was of Jonathan. Fail. Everyone knew I was a Jordan girl! Hello!

Push It - Salt N Pepa {1986}
I loved hip hop when I was younger. While I might not have knew what the F these sassy ladies were talking about, I remember really loving them. Especially in the 90s when their next album came out.

Power of Love -- Huey Lewis & The News {1985}
Um, I definitely can't leave them out. Especially since I not only LOVE Back to the Future where this song was featured... but I may or not have seen Huey Lewis in concert... three times. As an adult. LOL Love Huey!

Could You Be Loved -- Bob Marley {1980}
Gotta have some Marley on one of my lists somewhere!

Songs Too Awesome Not To Mention:
Soft Cell - Tainted Love
B52s - Love Shack
Janet Jackson - Control
Michael Jackson - PYT
George Michael - Faith
Bobby Brown - My Prerogative

LOVE your choices in the songs. I hope I remember to link up later. I cannot get onto YT at work. :(
I fortunately was a little kid when all these songs came out.

Gee, it's a really fine line between the 80's and 90's as far as 'when did that song come out?' I woulda thought SnP came out in the 90's.
Either way, I LOVE your list. brings back some fun times in my life - how did I space KNOTB on my 80's list?! Seriously... the 80's were amazing!

I love this! I was also born in 84 but 80s music is one of my fav genres. My sis is 11 years older than me though and she had all sorts of tapes growing up so I think that's how I got into it. Well that, and it's just good music. Hello.

Oh, the 80s! Love your lists!

I was a hardcore Paula Abdul fan. My best friend would come over and we would put on all of our very best neon clothes and crimp our hair, and dance to "Straight Up" in my basement...complete with waving flashlights at each other to make a "strobe light." Good times!

I LOOOOOOOOOOVED Comeon Eileen!! My friends and I used to belt it out during tennis practice (in high school) and irritate the hell out of our coach ;-) And I was a HUGE fan of Debbie Gibson. I listened to her Electric Youth tape cassette ALLL the way to California and back during a family vacay one summer.

Also? Have you ever noticed HOW many 80's songs are in Adam Sandler movies? Obviously Wedding Singer but 50 First Dates is ALL 80's songs but remade. Super random comment here, but I LOVE it!

Push It was another of my ultimate rollerskating songs. I might have to add it to my list!! I also loved C'mon Eileen but didn't know it until the late 90's when I was in college. One of the greatest one hit wonders!
Thanks for doing this, totally made my day to look back at my fave 80's songs!
PS I think I better start following your blog now :)
