Tubular Tuesdays Music Linkup #1 {Oldies}

Music!

Welcome to our link up! I hope you participate -- if oldies aren't your thing... next week is 80s! C'mon... everyone loves the 80s! :-)

November 1st *** Oldies {Anything 1979 and earlier}

This is definitely going to be the hardest topic to come up with 10 songs. There ARE SO MANY songs but also ... obviously before my time. I grew up listening to pop music -- my parents were young so I didn't grow up with the "oldies." I probably couldn't name 10 Beatles songs. I know, it's ridiculous! I didn't really even know what "oldies" music was until I was much older and could appreciate it. I'd say high school. Movies helped familiarize me with music from prior generations and friends "forced" me to listen to the classics in their cars, bedrooms, mix tapes, etc.

So... here's my Oldies list! Can't wait to see what you have got! :)

No doubt about. My absolute favorite oldies song is "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies. Yes, it's totally cool to have a song sung by comic book characters as my numero uno. It's just so... HAPPY! :)

Gotta have some Creedence on this list! I think I know every Creedance Clearwater Revival song by heart. I even saw them in concert -- well, it was a "new" band called Creedance Clearwater Revisited and everyone was new except the drummer -- and was surprised at just HOW many Creedance songs I knew. Whether it was from a movie, listening to them at a friend's house, etc. I picked "Down on the Corner" because it is now playing in my head and I still remember every word.

Now... it's time to get the LED out!! Hahahaha

Led Zeppelin, of course. This is probably my favorite of theirs.

Gotta have some Sweet Home Alabama on this list. It is always a crowd favorite!

Billy Joel's "Vienna." I thought this was going to have to go on the 80s list but this song actually came out in 1978. No kidding! Anyway, I love it.

This song is always a karaoke favorite. Many, many group singalongs have occurred to this one.
Bohemian Rhapsody!

Ohhhh have I butchered that song many a time in public.

Moving on...

Rolling Stones "You Can't Always Get What You Want"
I used to *love* this song in college. Totally random, I know. I think it was on a Coke commercial or something and I was hooked.

And, I don't care if you laugh at me about this one...

I was obsessed with Judy Garland when I was about 5 years old. I remember LOVING The Wizard of Oz -- this song especially. It never gets old.

Can't have an oldies list with Etta James.

Al Green's Let's Stay Together.

I suggested this next song for our first dance -- but that obviously didn't happen... LOL. Still love this song.

Otis Redding "That's How Strong My Love Is"

Holy wow. I already have 11 songs! I could go on forever. Trying to condense my 80s list next week is sure to be fun. Hope you link up today and every Tuesday for the next few weeks! :)

Sugar, sugar was our cake cutting song. :)

It saddens me that rock music is considered oldies now. Back when I was a teen oldies was from the 50's early 60's and obviously before then.
