Stocking up on accessories with Giveaways & Jewelmint Promo Code!

I was very fortunate to win TWO amazing accessory giveaways over the recent weeks!

First -- I won this beautiful Forever 21 necklace over at Kimberly's Korner.
I just love the ribbon + pearl combo!

Next, I was so excited to win some Stella & Dot earrings from a Modern Wife's Journey! I don't really own any Stella & Dot pieces, so I was thrilled to have turquoise super dangly earrings to add to my collection. {PS--if you're not reading her... you should! I actually met her for the first time over drinks this week after work!}

They're very pretty in person!

What I'm super pumped about are my recent purchases from Jewelmint. Have you heard about this site? Kate Bosworth and her stylust Cher Coulter design jewelry and offer them up on this site which is a monthly online jewelry club. When you join, you take a cute style quiz and each month you will be able to view your personalized selections! You are not charged until you purchase and you can skip any month. They have free shipping, easy returns, and each piece of jewelry is only $29.99!

For my first piece, I picked this adorable bunting necklace:
The insides of the bunting are fabric! It's so cute.

I then ordered both the Manhattan earrings and the Gehry Cuff.

Each piece of jewelry comes individually wrapped in its own box.

And inside the box is a description of the jewelry you just ordered!

Ta Da! The Manhattan earrings. They are both gold and silver tone (which I love) and they are very light.

The cuff hasn't arrived yet but here is a sneak peek:

Easter {weekend recap}

This past weekend was both frustrating and amazing.

What was frustrating: Staying up late Friday night {no drinks for me!} and getting up early (6 a.m.!) to study and prepare for a final exam. It's over and done with so I should be pleased... I just hope my grade is high!
Obviously my new pup's decision to scale the fence was a bit frustrating. Grrr.

What Was Amazing: Easter Buffet... yum. I stuffed myself with lamb, pork, mahi, salmon, chicken, salad, shrimp... so good! After we ate lunch, we sat on the tiki deck and had some dollar drinks and listened to (cheesy) music. It was a really good time!

And... I somehow lost 3 pounds so my WW weigh in was also kind of amazing.

A glimpse at the hubby's Easter Basket without the Basket.

My glitter egg tree!

My Easter Cocktail of choice? Vodka/Water and I supplied the Pink Lemonade Crystal Light!

The tiki bar was pretty packed! Guess everyone wanted to enjoy the beach with their families!

Update on my surprise: It's available for you to see online, but I'm not posting it here. If you've paid attention... you can find a video preview on their Facebook. I will post it publicly next month. (You can also see it running on TV... but I was not ready for that yet! LOL).

Rehearsal Outtakes & The After Party!

I didn't have access to all the photos from the rehearsal dinner before when I updated two weeks ago, but now I do! I just want to share some ridiculous, silly, and weird photos. No explanations given -- here is the night before the wedding! :)

Hey...who is the creeper cameraman to my left? It's my *big* secret (that some of you already know). If you don't know yet... you WILL by June 12th! :)

The above picture is a hint to my secret....

Oh yea... the after party. Well, I was going to post photos and then I realized.. they're kind of incriminating! Let's just say we ALL had a great time on the balcony of our hotel suite.... dancing, drinking, being ridiculous. I mean it got pretty wild! :)

Until next time... [and next time begins the wedding recaps!]

And... just because....

What You Missed:
The week before the wedding I got a tattoo! We also had our beach rehearsal before having dinner, handing out bridal party gifts, and a wild after party.

Meet Denali

So... I wanted to foster dogs. Or adopt a third one. I went through a local rescue and we both really loved this little guy. Well, huge guy. He's 60 pounds. Anyway, he is five years old and his owner abandoned him. We had him over last Wednesday night for two hours. Our other dogs got along with him and this pup was quiet. He barely barked. He was calm but still cute and friendly.

After our two hour puppy play date was over, we knew we had to keep him. He fit right in, we had the space, and we do have the time. Now, we are crazy dog people with more furry animals than people living in our home.

Though not all good deeds go unpunished -- this sweet guy ESCAPED from our fence over the weekend and some douche on a moped hit him. He is fine but his ear is a little bruised. It could have been much worse but I feel so bad. He's just confused about his new home. Don't worry, we repaired the fence... I hope he gets better soon!

Gotta get down on Friday

Fun Fridays

I'm glad it's FRIDAY but it is certainly not "fun." I have a final paper to write, an exam to take tomorrow morning (who has exams during Easter weekend?), and another final project due later next week. At least by tomorrow afternoon I can breathe again...and I get to celebrate the end of the semester with an old friend for some happy hour beverages. We are heading to a wine bar on the beach and I'm pretty excited!

Sunday is Easter and we are spending with our parents at my favorite beach bar/hotel/restaurant. I'm stoked about the Easter buffet. I've been saving my WW points for this!

P.S.: An old co-worker/friend is hosting her first giveaway! And, no, I don't get bonus entries for posting this... I just am sharing. If you are not reading her blog, you should. :) Visit her giveaway here!

Discovering new beers at a beer festival! :) Weekend recap

Things I Love To Do: Try new beer. When (another) beer festival was coming to town, I knew I had to make an appearance. $35 and four hours of tastings later, I was certainly a happy girl.

Last weekend Cajun Cafe on the Bayou opened its doors to various breweries and home brewers and let us enjoy the great weather while sipping on a variety of cold beverages. I must admit that I did find some new favorite beers (and ciders!), and I enjoyed some old favorites.

The Cajun Cafe was very cute out back. Lots of New Orleans inspired colors everywhere and a cute view! It was the perfect setting for something like this. It also was not very crowded which I enjoyed. One thing about beer festivals (or any festival in general) is the long wait sometimes associated with the more popular items. We did not have to wait very long for anything. That ruled.

Scenes from the festival:

The lucky lady who came with me

The bayou out back

Ciders I had never tried before. The one on the left was a honey cider. They also had maple syrup and molasses flavors!

One of our new favorites. It was SO yum. It was a Banana Bread Beer.
I've never seen it before!

Another favorite: Fruli. It was a strawberry beer. Very sweet!

We kept asking for refills of the Fruli so eventually they just handed us the bottle.

In case you're ever in the area, this place is my *favorite.*
The Dunedin Brewery has my favorite beer--an Apricot Wheat!

At the end of the festival, they raffled off a ton of beer items. I didn't think I was going to win anything.... but I did! Twice! First was this big bottle of booze from St. Somewhere's Brewery. They are a local brewery housed in Tarpon Springs, FL.

Up close of the bottle. Nice... 8%!

Everyone waiting for their numbers to be called.... and then mine was called. Again! This time I won a Curmudgeon Old Ale by Founders Brewery. I had never heard of this place before, but it's 9% ABV. Sweet! I'm sure the hubby will enjoy this one.

So, all in all, it was a great day. Last weekend was certainly busy, and this was just one of the highlights. I'm all about local breweries and events like this, I'd love to hear your favorite local beer or wine.

Do you attend tastings?

Guest Post: Sketch 'n Sip w/ Jen

So, I did this neat little thing last week with fellow blogger Jen. We drank and painted and pretended to be real artists. Anyway, she updated her blog with this post and I thought it was hilarious. So hilarious in fact, that there is no way I can recap the event without directly stealing her quotes. Instead, I asked if she would volunteer her post to be one of my first guest bloggers! She agreed to "guest post" and here are her thoughts on our painting party.

-*-*-

I work* (disclaimer below) all day and after, I feel like doing nothing. I don't like going to the grocery store after work. I don't like going to the post office after work. I don't like visiting people after work. I don't get gas after work, even if my car flashed at me that it was empty on the way home. About the only things I enjoy doing after work are going to the movies, attending the occasional happy hour, picking up or making dinner, watching our favorite TV shows, laying in my underwear and tank top....until another Groupon event came up! Turns out, I enjoy painting and drinking (simultaneously) after work too.

As mentioned, I'm hesitant to do almost anything after work. I vegetate until about midnight and then I decide to try to sleep (you know, because I have work* in the morning and all). Originally, I had plans with Krystal and Jackie to attend our Groupon night on a Friday after work, but someone (AHEM!...Krystal...cough...cough...teehee I totally just threw you under the bus) forgot and bought tickets to the Gasparilla Film Festival in Tampa (she can't be blamed- we made these plans almost a month prior and none of us had remembered, really. Besides, the film festival looked pretty fun! You can read that post here). Incidentally, Fridays are my only exception to the I-don't-want-to-do-anything-after-work feeling.

So, we rescheduled for a Monday. Normally, I don't do anything on Mondays because if I stay out late that day, my whole week is shot! However, between my school and my friend Jackie's early work schedule, Monday was really the only available day, and I ended up not regretting my time spent there at all!

Enter: Sketch and Sip. Another Groupon deal that I snatched up because it involved painting and drinking and being the worst painter ever, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to laugh at myself and my friends. For $20, we received all of the materials we needed to paint (it came with a 16x20 canvas!) as well as snacks and cups and ice for our beverages. Obviously, we got to take the painting home too. The only thing that wasn't provided were the drinks!

We went by Chick-Fil-A before the class so I thought I'd be cool and poor my first beer into my cup so I could start drinking in the parking lot before we went inside. I selected Woodchuck Pear.

Krystal is sooo serious about her painting. Look at her in the background while I'm gulping down my drink. My favorite quote of the evening is from her, "I feel like a real artist. I have my hair pulled back and everything." LOLZ so hard.

Turns out there were some cancellations so we were the only 3 taking the class this night! The class is set up so the instructor takes you step-by-step through the painting and then walks around to assist and give you pointers. Let's begin with our smocks!

Aside from the pouring of a new drink and the acquisition of many mini Snickers bars from the table in the corner, we sat at our stations the whole time and watched our paintings come to life!

We started with painting the wine bottles, which was harder than we thought it would be. We couldn't get the lines straight! Being the perfectionist I am, I insisted on continuing to work to get them as straight as possible, even though the instructor said we'd be going over them all anyway and would have the chance to make any changes.

We continued to work on them...

Another Snickers and alcohol break...

And before we knew it, our paintings were complete!

I have to say, we were all so proud of ourselves. Being of no artistic talent, we were all sure we'd be big rejects and make our instructor so frustrated. But, we joked with her, she loved us and told us we did good and I think we did! There were definitely times when we were laughing so hard at each other's paintings, Krystal was snorting at herself, and we were concentrated more on opening the wine and beer bottles more than anything else, but the event was so much fun and we plan on going back again!

Of course, I couldn't resist taking a picture in the car on the way home and texting it to my mom who replied with, "What is that supposed to be?". I swear, some people just don't know ART!

*My work is defined as answering an average of 1 phone call per day, browsing the internet, taking catnaps, watching movies and TV shows, reading my book, doing homework, doodling, participating in various social media outlets, relaxing outside by the bay, laying on the couch in the back office, etc. And yes, this is all done in an actual office that isn't my home.

-*-*-

She definitely told the story better than I could have! Thanks Jen!

Me with my somewhat confusing wine bottle painting. My dad also asked me what it was supposed to be.
