The Smallest Nursery in all the Land {Turning the Office into Cannon's Nursery}

The Smallest Nursery in all the Land! Or - how we made our office into a "nursery."
It's not going to win any Pinterest contests or anything, but here's what we managed to do with such a small space.

Back story: We moved to the SWFL area pretty quickly and with three dogs...finding a place to rent was tough. We found a two-bedroom house on a cul-de-sac and have had to make do with the limited space we now have. Going from a three bedroom to a two.... certainly a challenge. The second bedroom was a pretty large office that appeared to be -- at one point -- two bedrooms. It looks like the previous owners knocked down some walls to make one giant room. So, we used half of the room as the office and the other half became "Cannon's Cubicle."

What you see when you walk in...

Above the crib - I won the tassel garland from The Flair Exchange so I thought I would hang it up for now. It seemed festive! ; )

Now...since this used to be a larger office for us...we still had SOME stuff that needed a place to go. I have dubbed this area "my little corner."

I still had a desk that needed a home along with our routers and extra computer. We don't ever turn this computer on but we need it all hooked up just in case. No matter how much I tried to organize and make this look neat... I still feel like I failed. LOL We honestly downsized SO MUCH and put a lot out in the garage -- there's just still a lot of stuff!

A pretty full bookcase with toys, pictures frames on the shelf that need real photos to be placed in, books, etc.

His library is off to a good start. I think the highlight of his book selection is "Walter the Farting Dog" found at Goodwill -- where most of these books were found actually. Some were from Totsy when they had a sale and everything was $1 or $2.

Next to the bookcase is his armoire. Filled to the brim with shoes, baby clothes, blankets. Yes... since this room is kind of crazy THERE ARE NO CLOSETS. There are also NO CLOSETS in this entire house. Honest. We have ONE.

The other corner of the room has my glider and a table. Under the table is a bin with all my breastfeeding supplies.

Lamp from BRU's clearance rack, humidifier that will probably be moved somewhere higher, and one of those white noise machines that everyone said we had to have.

Above the glider -- more decals and Curious George...

Oh, look, the crib! Pretty basic. Because of our space issues we picked a crib that had an attached changing table with shelves and drawers. This has helped us store and hide some more baby junk.

I was given a Paul Frank paper mobile and we hung it over the changing table. I wanted to try it out and see what it looked like... it's kinda cute so I'm leaving it!

I wish I could show you a betterview of the crib bedding -- I actually won it from Halo Sleep Sacks!

It came with two sheets, a crib skirt, and two Halo Sleep Sacks. Definitely a score!

What's in the drawers... bath stuff. Top drawer has, like any true Floridian (!), baby bathing suits and washcloths.

More bath stuff down below...

Next to the changing table... mirror, more animal decals, diaper genie...

and that was Cannon's Crib. While the rest of the house might not be as organized...at least we are ready to go for him to make his arrival. His other baby gear is strewn about the house -- the other side of that room which is our office has the activity mat, jumper, and swing lined up against the wall, there's a travel system in the dining room, the bouncer in the living room, the bassinet in ready to go in our room.... ahhhhh the joys of renting a small house!

Now -- let's all hope and pray this "tropical storm" Issac fellow changes his path so I'm not giving birth to a baby in the middle of a hurricane. That would be great. Thanks! :)

We live in a super tiny house too...with no closets! I feel like we're connected somehow by this hardship :)

I've been stressing about how we're going to fit our baby stuff in the house, and then found out we might have to move. That's pretty much the best way to freak out a pregnant person. I'm sure of it!

I think you did an amazing job with such a small space---it looks so cozy! Our nursery is small too, and we're trying to utilize every square inch of space--it's tough!

Very cute! I feel you on the small space. We don't have a closet for Ellie, either. It hasn't been so bad, we just have to keep on top of her clothes - when she outgrows something, it immediately gets packed away to make room for something new in the drawer.

I think you did a great job with a small space!

Super cute nursery! You've done a lot with a small space, and it looks fantastic. It's crazy that you don't have any closets in that room! I don't know what I'd do without lots of closets to store my crap. :)
