Cheesy Photo Studios {"Newborn" Photos}

 I love a good photographer, but there are just some times when it's not in the budget. Of course with a baby I wanted SOME kind of "newborn" photos that weren't from our cameras....so I looked into those cheesy portrait studios. Sears, JC Penney, etc.

I found Portrait Innovations and saw they pretty much always run a deal for a TON of pictures for $14.99. Your session is then followed by a pushy sales pitch to buy a million photos for hundreds of dollars but that's another story...

Anyway -- at three weeks old here are the two I ended up getting from Portrait Innovations. I liked them! The photographer we had actually seemed like she knew what she was doing and most of the pictures came out cute... but I only purchased these two.

And, yes, they are scans! They don't offer digital images unless you purchase a large package. I just wanted these two.

Do you take family pictures at portrait studios? How has your experience been?

We haven't done the portrait studio package thing. We took family photos with a photographer I know and that was $150, but we got a cd of all images.

I absolutely LOVE the baseball hat one!

So cute! I love the baseball one in particular!

I haven't used one of those studios in years but I have definitely considered it. If it's so cheap, it's kind of like, why not give it a chance?

They are both so cute, but the baseball one justs kills me. Really really cute. I do birthday pictures for my son at a portrait studio. This year I was able to find a groupon which helped. I refuse to buy the huge package that costs hundreds of dollars, but I buy a couple of poses I love.

Love these "cheesy" photos as you call them! So cute! We did family photos this weekend and I cant wait to see how they turn out! :)

by the way- in my area all the family photographers are about $150 for the session and THEN you have to pay $$$ (like $300 or more) for the pictures even for the cheapest package! SO I feel you're pain! We ended up paying for a friend to fly up here and take them, which was cheaper than hiring someone locally since we get all the shots for free! I can just print them out from shutterfly or something which will be pretty inexpensive!

Love these!! He is super handsome and I love his baseball hat!

I love Portrait Innovations and they do a great job ... but I always ended up buying the 4 pose package so I could get the disc ... which doesn't really make sense because the images are low resolution and you can't do much with them. So I stopped going there because it was just too hard to say no and I always spent $100, plus that place wore me out mentally after being there for an hour or more with 2 young kids who are bored and wound up, then having to go through literally 100 poses and trying to decide, while the kids are pulling my arm asking if I'm done yet :) I also don't like how you have to buy 3 sheets of each pose. Some poses I might want more than 3, some less. Why can't you mix and match?!

Last Christmas we did JC Penney and it was ok - only $4 a sheet and seems to be better quality than Sears or Walmart. It's nice because we can get pics and then Rob can take the kids to walk around the mall while I try to figure out what we're buying. I do hate having to wait to pick them up though.
