Then, of course, all I wanted to read were pregnancy books ... but even I got sick of those after the first few.
So - here is my very pathetic look at the books I read in 2012.
Bitter is the New Block - Jen Lancaster
Terrible. I had the hardest time reading this and my favorite type of books are humor memoirs! I just don't know why, but I could NOT get into it. Suggest any other memoir and I'm all about it. This one? Not a fan.
The Nest Newlywed Handbook
Cute book to thumb through.
Girls in Trucks - Katie Crouch

I really loved this book. I suggested it to a few people after I loved it and they hated it. Clearly I just have weird taste in books. Anyway - I really do recommend this book.
Punk Rock Dad - Jim Lindberg
Awesome. I got this book for my husband after I told him we were expecting. It is written by the lead singer in Pennywise and it is just HILARIOUS. They based a documentary off of this book, The Other F Word, and that too was pretty awesome.
Knocked Up - Rebecca Eckler
A decent memoir about someone becoming a mom who wasn't planning it.
Belly Laughs - Jenny McCarthy
I shouldn't even count this as a "book." It was very short and had some cute stories.
The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy - Vicki Iovine
The best pregnancy advice book I read. Skip all the others. Just read this one.
Baby Bargains - Denise Fields
I love reading about sales and dealios. This laid out all the best baby products by price with reviews. It's pretty helpful if you have no idea where to start and you are registering.
The Black Book of Hollywood Pregnancy Secrets - Kym Douglas
I read this in two days and I can't even remember what it was about. I think they talked about Posh Spice a lot.
What to Expect When You're Expecting - Heidi Murkoff
UGH. I read most of it. Borrrrrring. ;)
Fifty Shades Trilogy
These were the first books I read on my new Nook Color. I wanted something that would be fast to read to test it out. I had been against e-readers for the longest time - no idea why - but these books made for easy reading. I found that I could read books FASTER on my Nook. I flew through these (except the third one which is absolute garbage). The first one is obviously the best, the second one is just okay, and the third one is trash.
A Short Guide to a Happy Life - Anna Quindlen
A cute little book I threw on my Nook for inspiration on crummy days.
“Life is made up of moments, small pieces of
glittering mica in a long stretch of gray cement. It would be wonderful
if they came to us unsummoned, but particularly in lives as busy as the
ones most of us lead now, that won’t happen. We have to teach ourselves
how to make room for them, to love them, and to live, really live.”
Now - my first book of 2013 - will be one by Anna Quindlen.

Sounds like a good one to ring in the new year with, eh?

Don't worry. Since I was pregnant and now had my baby, I have been so bad at reaching my reading goals. I set one for this year of 75...last years was 50 and I got to 31. I guess I can try really hard even if some are baby books.
Thank goodness I am not the only one who couldn't get into Jen L.'s book. I just didn't think it was that great.
