Over the course of the past ten years, I've owned about 5 computers. There was a time that my nickname was the "Computer Killer." For whatever reason, I would murder my laptops. One year in college, I cracked the screen and it would no longer turn on after I dropped it. Another time I lost very important computer keys: the a and the s! And, the most recent time, another cracked screen on a laptop.
Oy.
Needless to say all of my important documents over the past decade are strewn about on these broken computers. Never to be used again.
I cannot say enough to BACK UP YOUR FILES. Honestly. There's a website out there now called Backblaze which is an online backup software. Not only does it automatically back up your stuff, but it's just a few bucks a month.
When you're connect to wi-fi, it automatically backs up your files as you work. Documents, music, images. Everything. If you were to ever LOSE your stuff (god forbid!), Backblaze can send you a USB flash drive or a USB hard drive. Easy!
Your information is totally encrypted as it is backed up, so no worries about computer safety! You can read more about Backblaze news on their blog.

No one needs to hear this more than me! I never back up my stuff and I know how important it is. I would be MISERABLE if I lost everything. I'll have to check out that site!
I use to NEVER back mine up but then over Christmas I had someone do it for me because I started getting really worried about losing it all.
