Since having our baby, I am certainly having more photos ordered than before. I'm taking more photos on Instagram where I sacrifice quality for the convenience of it being on my phone. I'm trying to be better at taking photos with a professional camera instead of my cell, but most of the time my laziness wins.
In an effort to document our kiddo's first year and in an attempt to stay ORGANIZED, this photo organization series was created! My ideas are not rocket science, but maybe I'll inspire some of you to get snapping, printing, and hanging.
First up in this series: ALBUMS.
Whenever I hear about photo albums, I instantly think of the sticky gummy pages of my mom's 1980s style Walmart albums. Nothing sophisticated about them. I suppose they did their job as they haven't turned to dust and the photos are still adhered to the pages, but I wanted something nicer to store my first baby's photos.
I, of course, had the hardest time finding photo albums in the stores. I went to my usual places and did not find anything I really wanted. I turned to Amazon and even there I had issues. I finally just gave in and purchased this plain jane photo album:
The thing about this album I really liked was that it was 8" x 10". I wanted to have the ability to store 8 x 10s if necessary, but I also had the flexibility of putting any other size in there. Here's what I have so far:
Basically I have been ordering my "favorite photos" of the month as 8 x 10s. I stick them in this album and they are kept safely until I decide to frame and hang them. We are in the process of moving, so I am not going to frame anything right now. However, after we get settled, I have several options of photos ready for framing. It's nice!
The first page in the album is one of those baby fact sheets. They are totally cheesy but only about $10 on Birthday Keepsakes.
The album cover is sturdy and nice, and the pages are simple. Enlargements are averaging about $2 and some of my enlarged prints have actually been free thanks to promotions at Shutterfly and Walgreens. I might end up with a ton of albums over the years, but at least this one is relatively nice and inexpensive. It also has tons of room to expand with extra pages.

I really wish I would have done a better job of putting an album together for Kennedy's first year! I have a ton of pictures printed. My plan is to finish it this summer!
I love this! I haven't started an album for my little one, but it would be easier to start that now than to wait until she is a year old.

Love this post! Fellow co-host! I have so many albums but I have to get them together for each kiddie, I want to give them a special photo album when they go off to college or get married! I better get moving my oldest one is in 10th grade! I am loving your blog! Following you!
wow! I can't believe you find the time to print photos! I had a TON on my computer and finally decided we were going to do yearly family albums. But I'm doing them all digitally. I just used My Publisher to make an album and am waiting for the book to be sent to me.
Okay you're making me realize I totally need to stop being lazy and get some pictures printed for an album I'm working on.
