Today features a guest post from a travel writer, Kendra Thornton, who recently traveled to Hawaii. She submitted a post and I thought since it was booze related that I would share. Thanks Kendra!

I must say that I am still positively glowing after my return from the stunning Halekulani Resort in beautiful Hawaii, amongst one of the top hotels in Honolulu. I planned this trip a little over a year ago, and could not wait to get there. It seemed to get worse as I entered the final month before our departure, I just absolutely couldn’t wait! As the time counted down, the hours and minutes slowed with each ticking of the hands of the clock.
After a long flight, we finally touched down and my husband and I were taken out to the resort. It was AMAZING! I couldn’t believe how gorgeous the location was. We had gotten the pool view room with beautiful views of not only the pool but of the island itself. The attention to detail was immaculately done. Talk about living like royalty for a week!
One night when we walked down to the House Without a Key restaurant, I had this fabulous Mai Tai drink. The flavors really brought out the authentic flavors of the island and I was insistent on not leaving until I had the recipe! Luckily, I got it!
When we got back to our east coast home, my husband and I wanted to bring a bit of our trip back to our friends in Chicago. We planned a get together night to relax and unwind and made this tantalizing drink.
Mai Tai Ingredients:
- 1/3-Ounce Orgeat Syrup
- 1/3 Ounce Orange CuraƧao
- 1/3-Ounce Rock Candy Syrup
- 3/4-Ounce Bacardi Gold Rum
- 1/2-Ounce Bacardi 151 Rum
- 1 1/4 Ounce Fresh Lime Juice
- 3/4 Ounce Bacardi Select (float)

Directions: To make this delectable drink that will be the toast of your next get together, simply add each of the ingredients over ice. Then, be sure to float the drink with the Bacardi Select Rum. Be sure to garnish with a mint leaf, Vanda orchid, lime wheel and sugar cane stick for that special Halekulani touch!
Enjoy!
